Kevin / Senior Pictures
I took Kevin's senior pictures this year just as summer was ending and marching band season was starting up again, right in the middle of a typical mid-west late July heatwave. We went to the Wells Street Bridge near downtown Fort Wayne, a location I had only explored once before. I'm glad we did, because this bridge is really a cool place for portraits.
Next to the bridge is an old brick building with wooden doors that used to be painted. I'm not sure what the building is, but it also made great scenery. I love the textures of the brick, cement, and old plywood.
Kevin has played timpani in the high school marching band (which is the instrument I used to play!), and will be playing marimba this upcoming year, so he brought an old marching hat and his mallets to use as props. I like using props in portraits. They give you something to do with your hands and something to interact with other than the scenery, and at the same time they highlight something important to you.
As usual, Kevin was great model. I've photographed the marching band in the past, and once told Kevin he got my unofficial "Most Photogenic" award. So here's a bonus picture of Kevin from two marching seasons ago, just for fun.
