Micaela - Class of 2018 | Senior Pictures at the IPFW Campus

Fall really threw me for a loop this year! Micaela's session was scheduled for the third week of October, when the fall leaves are usually at their most vibrant here in northern Indiana. This year, though, the leaves started to turn early and then stopped just before their peak. Even though the leaves never got as colorful as we had hoped for, we made the most of what we had. The IPFW campus is one of my favorite places for portraits in Fort Wayne because it offers so much variety.

We started in the center of campus, at the little courtyard area just outside the student center. The trees were still green and not very fall-like, but the tall grasses in the courtyard gardens and the golden evening light added a bit of autumn texture to the scenery.

Micaela was so relaxed even from the beginning of the evening. She really didn't have to "warm up" to being in front of the camera. At school, she's a member of the choir, and she also works backstage on many of the drama department's productions as a stage manager. She also sings in the praise band at church.

We moved from the center of campus out towards the path that led to the river, and found a few trees that offered a little more autumn color for us. Along the river the evening sun was filtering through the willow trees just perfectly. And, a portrait session at IPFW isn't complete without a picture on the bridge over the river.

I think my favorite part of this session was that Micaela asked me if she could bring her dog along. Of course I said yes! I love photographing people with their pets. Dogs and cats (and horses, and guinea pigs, etc) are part of the family.

Micaela, you were wonderful. I truly enjoyed working with you! You have such a sweet, friendly personality. Have a great senior year, and I wish you all the best for your graduation and beyond!
