2021 Spring Sessions | Fort Wayne Senior Photographer
As I'm writing this the sun is shining, it's pleasantly mild outside, and I'm ignoring the forecast for colder temperatures later in the week. Spring is always like a breath of fresh air after a Midwestern winter, and this year the springtime feels especially hopeful.
If you're graduating in the Class of 2022, now may be the perfect time to start planning your senior portrait session! I know it feels crazy early for anything like that. After all, you still have half a semester left before you're even technically a senior. But if mild temperatures, vibrant greens, and flowering trees are your thing, now is the perfect time to start planning your senior pictures.
Why plan a spring senior session?
The biggest advantage to a spring session is the flowering trees. It's something you just can't get any other time of year, even when other plants are blooming. Here in Fort Wayne, the trees tend to be at their best in late April or early May. If a backdrop of delicate flower petals is the look you want for your senior pictures, it's a great idea to have them taken now, at the end of your junior year. If you wait for the end of your senior year, you won't get them back in time for end-of-year banquets or for sending out your graduation announcements.
Your schedule is also something to consider. If you're busy in the fall with extra-curricular activities (I see you, band kids), spring or summer might be better options for your portrait session.
Where are some good locations for a spring session in Fort Wayne?
Headwaters Park is a great option. The sidewalks are lined with trees that flower at different times in spring, plus I love this location in general for the variety it provides. Foster Park and Lakeside are also solid choices.
If you're not into florals but still want your pictures taken in the spring, (or if you want to schedule your session in early spring before the trees flower,) then I recommend a location that doesn't feature too much nature. Downtown Fort Wayne has a lot to offer, and the Purdue Fort Wayne and St. Francis campuses also feature architecture that works well for portraits.
