In October I had a "senior session double header" with back-to-back fall portrait sessions. The day after Micaela's session, I met up with Elise downtown at Headwaters Park. There wasn't a whole lot of fall color there, either, but we had amazing weather again!
Elise is in the marching band (and symphonic band, and jazz band) at Concordia. My sister was the drum major during Elise's freshman year, and Elise told me that she had loved working with my sister so she thought she'd like working with me too. I love that she brought her tenor saxophone and her bassoon to feature in a few of her portraits.
The image below is something I had been wanting to do for a while. When my dad saw this one, naturally he asked me how we were able to do it without getting run over. Don't worry; we were completely safe!
We went to the big crosswalk across Clinton and waited for the "Walk" signal, then went to the middle of the crosswalk quickly and took a few pictures. Elise's mom counted down the seconds for us when the signal started flashing and we got out of the street before the light turned green. We did it twice and ended up with this great shot of Elise with her hometown behind her!
It had been a while since I used Headwaters park as a location for portraits. I did some location scouting ahead of time and picked out some of the best spots around the park. The benches and paths make great scenery, there's the wooden bridge that leads from the park to the old fort, and from the right angle you can see Fort Wayne's skyline.
And, Elise brought her dogs with her! It was so fun to photograph two seniors two days in a row with their pets.
Best wishes to you, Elise, for the rest of your senior year, graduation, and beyond! It was a pleasure working with you and your adorable dogs.
